Brick & Book Vault — Edmonton's Used Books & Lego

Brick & Book Vault ("we", "us") is based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and this policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and how it's handled, in line with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

What we collect

When you place an order: name, email, phone number, and (for delivery, Canada Post, or Amazon-shipped orders) a shipping address.
When you pay by card: your card details are entered directly into Stripe's own payment form and go straight to Stripe — we never see or store your full card number.
When you sign up for our newsletter: your email address.
When you use our rewards points program: your email address and points balance.
When you use live chat on the site: the messages you send us.

Why we collect it

To create and fulfill your order, and to contact you about it (pickup ready, delivery window, tracking, etc.)
To process payment (card payments via Stripe; e-transfer payments are matched to your order manually)
To send order confirmation, receipt, and shipping emails
To track and apply rewards points, if you choose to use that program
To send newsletter updates, only if you signed up for them

Who we share it with

We don't sell your information. It's shared only with the services that help us actually run the store:

Stripe — processes card payments
Shippo / Canada Post — generates shipping labels and rates for mailed orders
Amazon — for orders fulfilled from Amazon's warehouse (FBA), your name and delivery address are shared with Amazon so they can ship your order
Resend — sends order confirmation and account emails on our behalf
Supabase — hosts our database, where order and account records are stored

How long we keep it

Order records are kept for our own bookkeeping and tax records. Rewards points and newsletter signups are kept until you ask us to remove them.

Your rights

You can ask us what information we have about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it (except where we're required to keep order records for tax purposes). Unsubscribe from the newsletter any time using the link in any newsletter email.
